A Fearful Heart

Tragic is the soul
so riddled with fear
it knows nothing of trust.

Successes and power
yield little relief
to the emptiness of a heart
choosing to beat alone.

Security in ones bubble
may protect against hurt,
but ensures a life of destitute.

All that we achieve
will soon be forgotten
where as quality relationships
shall live in us forever.

After reading the first stanza I knew this was going to be a good one. Throughout the poem I think that you really captured what the quote was saying and made that completely obvious to the reader. Thank you for entering my contest.

Powerful write and great take on the prompt.

I liked the third stanza the best. It makes me think of how closing off from people only works for so long before we realize the loneliness that comes along with being alone. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.
