Crooked fingers slid open the rosewood compass
Solar angles at lattitude next to south Alcove
View of ancient headstones the rain chilled
Wishing for warmth at his back, the cabbie called out,
No meeting mate! The neighbor says they went to look at whales!

There's a certain mystery about this; fun when things are left a bit unfinished, questions. I enjoyed the vividness of your write.

Here in south africa we have an annual whale-watching festival at Hermanus on the south coast and where I live, also at the coast, the dolphins play in the bay and each year around august/september the whales return to the warm waters here to give birth to their calves
. and yes, the video was beautiful.
I liked the nautical feel of this poem. Quite a nice and original take on the contest prompt here - well done. I would rather go look at whales too than sit through a boring meeting, lol. I enjoyed this one - thank you for entering.
