Ophidiophobia!

Across the forest floor this night
Striped serpent slides in silent flight.
Antennae taking in the scent
Of sweat and fright; - terror's events.

She glides like ski's upon the ice,
Her victims shiver like frightened mice.
Fangs their deadly potion wait
To strike and deal your certain fate.

Has no compassion, venomous queen,
Deaf to all that have to scream.
For she has purpose, feels your heat,
Can sense your fear; - Judas heartbeat!

Majestic vision, in silhouette
She rises ready, you've lost the bet.
To take your life, don't be surprised
It's quick! You'll soon be paralysed!

    Sounds of ells
    and sounds of esses
    suggests the snake
    and her evil passes,

    Tribute and warning
    and silent dawning.

    Enjoyed your write.
    the snake in the night.

    "ski's should be "skis",
    a minor mistake
    in this sad saga
    of the snake.

I am not fond of snakes!

I live here because it's against the law to have a snake in Hawai'i....the only state that doesn't have them...
Well...I live here for other reasons too! Great imagery
Thanks so much for supporting our contests!
    Best wishes always!

Great imagery! I could feel the 'slithering' snake - I don't like snakes!...lol
Nice flow. The third verse, last line, was off a hair in flow - but not that bad.
    Nicely done. An enjoyable read.

    thank you for your entry
    best wishes in the contest

Yes, your poem does indeed slither along and I didn't need the link to figure out it was some type of snake, though I did wonder if it were some person, you know, the snake in the grass type, or even the black widow type of woman.

I bet the venom works almost as quickly as Moxie!

You have impeccable insight Mr Yem.

I've not managed to find a sample of Moxie here yet, and a trip to Maine might look suspicious on my expenses claim forms.

    Wild lass........
snaking across the deep red dirt......
I felt as though something was slinking across my floor.
Really captured the essence of the existence of this creature.....
    Now if you excuse me...
i have to move the couch...
there is a strange sound coming from behind it.....lol

    Excellent!
    Made me very paranoid
    little gypsy.....
