In Memory ( Tribute to Our Fallen Icons)

Over the past few weeks
tears rolled down cheeks.
Hearing day after day
another has passed away.
So much sorrow and grief
It is beyond belief.

These people came into our homes
with them we never felt alone.
A song or a TV show to make us feel,
to us these people were real.
Bea Arthur our "Golden Girl,"
Farrah Fawcett with her golden curl.

"Here's Johnny" said Ed McMahon
To introduce his best friend.
David Carradine, don't mess with Bill.
Those two movies gave such a thrill.
My thoughts are with Estelle Getty,
To forget her would be so petty.

Then there is the "Man in the Mirror,"
with "Thriller" he gave us a shiver.
No matter how long one lives death is too soon.
So many deaths in this month of June.
You all may be gone but will live forever,
Not to be forgotten whatsoever!

Author notes

Alos in our memory is Aaliyah Haughton, Issac Hayes, James Brown and Bernie Mac...all gone to soon...

I am really upset about this, I have had death in my personal life too over the past month and it just seems like two much...when we are watching these people grow and live and even perform, somehow we think they will live forever. The the harsh reality shows us that they are human too and will surely depart this Earth like the rest of us..Live each day as though it was your last here, because it very well may be! Peace be to you all!

i happened to be off that day which is rare for me so it was very strange and sad . It's one of those times you will always remember where you were when you heard the news. Showing my age I remember when I heard about John Lennon's death as I was in high school and thought that was so sad since I began listening to his music( which I love) not long before that. I think it's hard too to imagine for some that these were human beings like you and me who all had feelings. very nice tribute.

    • Thank you for that wonderful comment. It's hard to fathom sometimes when the only time you see people is on TV it really makes them seem immortal and when they die it is like man they were actually human and it really is sad. Thanks again!

Exceptional...well said in every line, we love Michael in our own ways and now that an icon departed, Farrah passing on the same day kinda got put on a back burner, thank you for being inspired to share. Blessings.

    • Thank you so many have died that were apart of the entertainment industry as well as any personal losses we may have had. It is really sad when you enjoy someone so much and have them plastered all over your screen once they die. There is no fame in death and one should not over shadow the other. In fact a notice they died with a tribute is enough. But blow by blow details of how they lived or didn't live is unnecessary. I do enjoy watching the Michael videos. But let's not forget the other dearly departed. Thanks for reading.

    Isn't it really sad.
A girl was crying at school because of michael jackson.
I dunno, I guess it's a fact of life, but it really hurts especially when it's someone you know.

I like the way you've expressed this.

    • Thank you for your comment, I feel sad for his family and his kids and millions of poeple who adored him and those wh never go tthe chance to.
