I know exactly how you feel, but it is NEVER too late. Trust me. I am an old codger and am still learning from those wrong turns and lapses in timing. It's all part of this game we call LIFE. It doesn't matter if we win or lose. The most important thing is to do your best while you're playing and enjoy the game while you can.
