Your arms hold together my porcelain body
like heaven and earth are one
I always knew you'd see me as something to catch,
a falling star from a grey, cloudy sky
And as you caught me, I fell asleep in your encouraging hands,
waiting for daylight
You were born speckled and sparkling, while I had been tainted with affliction and alphabet scars
I never saw the point in soggy kisses or goodbye hugs
and even though there's a part of me, that I keep concealed,
that desperatly needs your fingers around my waist
I would give it all up, if it meant, I could have the world
You never saw past the surface,
of my lucid complexion and golden, butter crunch eyes
You never saw the outlines of him, still pencialed onto my exterior
like an old skin I constantly live in
You saw the tears that painted both my face and yours
everytime you almost took me too far, too fast
But you never asked where they came from
Or how the purple-red lines were etched into my arms and thighs
And even if you had cared to ask
The words wouldn't have left my voice box anyway
Because everytime you looked straight through me
I was telling myself, "Today just isn't the day"
I've portrayed you as a mirage
Because I was afraid to see you for what you always were
You've portrayed me
As something I will never be
The scars were always right in front of your eyes
You just didn't wanna see
Something in me, a little less perfect and a little less clean

My scars are nothing compared to the pain that put them there.
