...And they'll believe your lies
Feed them propaganda
...Make them obey your every request
Masses intoxicated with manipulation
...They don't know, they don't know
Left, right - Wrong, right
Facts are based on opinions these days
Bomb a city
...Call it holy
Deprive them of basic rights
...Establish forced equality
Evade, invade, conquer
...Men will find another reason for war
Left, right - Wrong, right
We are left with no choice
Author notes
I wrote this poem yesterday on paper and perfected it today.
It's inspired by the song Born Dead, Buried Alive by The Agonist.
"Brainwash young minds - They will learn what you teach; practice what you preach. Brainwash young minds - breed corruption."
This was the part that truly inspired me to write this. I thought about what my society was like and what might it become if I don't stand up against manipulation and brainwashing.
-----
"Brainwash young minds
...And they'll believe your lies"
What you teach them is all that they're gonna know. They can't distinguish the difference between correct and incorrect, it's all truth to them because that's all they know.
"Deprive them of basic rights
...Establish forced equality"
No two individuals are equal unless they are both reduced to mere nothingness, then they're equal.
(I don't mean that this race is better than that race, but what I mean is this person is better than that person because of this.)
"Left, right - Wrong, right
We are left with no choice"
You are left with a choice, you can choose to stand up for what you believe in or you could sit there and wait for time to erode your foothold. It's your decision, make the right one.

I think "Brainwash young minds
...And they'll believe your lies"
is sadly spot on in terms of some societies and governments.
I also liked how you compared "Left, right - Wrong, right"
it's a simple phrase but says so much in my opinion.
Thanks for entering.
