Old School's Dead

I walk around in tattered jeans
In a town that I no longer see
It's soul was lost as style decayed
It's a wonder that I stayed

Hard to live with all these scars
On these streets now paved with stars
Names that people can now adore
But ten years later will abhor

It's a joke, that trends remain
It's just the corps. that get the gains
Their new jeans just look like mine
For this garbage, there are lines

Washed-up vets now sit in bars
Wonder how they're where they are
Walking out fills them with dread
They can see that talent's dead

People flock at Blondie's whim
They don't know she now has them
So hard for life to get ahead
When the old-school life is lost and dead

Author notes

Okay, well I took this from the perspective of someone growing up in Hollywood from sometime earlier in it's history through to modern times. It's ridiculous how things can be now.

    • Hmm....Well, not so sure about the baseball part, but I'm sure I can find some inspiration in it. Also, nice choice of band.
