for a while we measured
the distance between us
with soughs of silence
but your breath...
a mysterious wind
still unfastened the canopy
of my heart.
your eyes looked burdened,
tired of carrying the night...
her constellations and myths.
"More sugar in your coffee?"
I fumbled,
"Mine's too bitter"
these strong farewell flavours
corrupt my tongue.
vaguely recall that you left...
waving from the door
Guess I will linger awhile,
grope 'neath the void
you left behind
and perhaps...
I will leave too
once I find my poem there.
