Euphoria.

Down a long and narrow hallway,
A single door awaits
My hand, to give it purpose.

A simple door,
From one world into another.
By passing through it,
I transform.

This most inviting door,
Tempts a hope in me,
A spark that feeds a fire.

Every time I cross that threshold,
I am closer to completion.
For every night is a new dream,
A new chance at perfection.

Every word, every step,
Is a chance for someday
to be here and now.
Each theoretically  flawless moment,
Followed by a thousand eyes.

We have no need for someday,
Beyond that door,
In our created world.

Better than any utopia,
Higher than any euphoria,
We live in and for the spotlight.

Every day is someday,
Beyond stage doors.

    My favorite stanza:

"Every time I cross that threshold,
    I am closer to completion.
For every night is a new dream,
    A new chance at perfection."

I like how you pick apart life and analyze each thing. I see it a lot in your writing. You're good at making sense of the stuff I don't get, and at least putting things in a different light.

  • Love it...

    Surreal, dreamy & thought provoking...
Strong narrative, rhythm & flow that makes for a compelling read & enthralls throughout...
    Keep up the good work...
    Well done!!!

    • Thank you. I appreciate such encouraging words from a writer who's work I admire.

Your words make me think of the dream realm where anything and everything is possible and in our control. Then there's a literal interpretation of actors on a stage, breathing like into characters and how we really could do the same thing in life if we so choose.

I love when I read something and see something different, something more each time.

    Thanks for entering our contest.

Some people of course consider life on earth to be a mere mere prelude to a greater one, and while I might have never understood that, I do understand that hope and desire for a greater plane. Your poem speaks of that day, when you reach that highest plane of transcendence and it is quite obvious, you feel you won't find that in earthly pleasures.

Of course it can be read in a secular manner, simply as the belief that one day you will find a better day than now. We often prepare and strive for that day and this poem could be read as an anticipation of that day.

Either is fine, it gives that same sense of hope and conviction.

Thank you for entering the contest.
