We sit at our table
To enjoy our meal
We drink our clean water
Whenever we feel
Maybe we don't know
How many people are starving
Maybe we don't know
How many people are thirsting
Maybe we just don't care
We walk down our streets
With our heads held high
Nodding at strangers
As they pass by
Maybe we don't know
How many people are hiding
Maybe we don't know
How many people are scared
Maybe we just don't care
We get up everyday
And go to work
Come home and complain
Of how bad we hurt
Maybe we don't know
How many people are fighting
Maybe we don't know
How they're barely surviving
Maybe we just don't care
We wake on the weekends
And set out to play
Not a care in the world
It's just another day
Maybe we don't know
How many people are crying
Maybe we don't know
How many people are dying
Maybe we just don't care
Please tell me what you think

Superb
'tis a very fine write, indeed. You have expressed your thoughts quite clearly. This reminds me of my series on Homelessness. Thanks for sharing this with us. -
Compassion is apparent
It's obvious you have compiled thoughts and feelings about this 'subject'.
Reality based.

wow...an amazing poem...i congratulate you....this is deep and exactly how our lives are...we don't really care as much as we try to tell ourselves we do..
