monday
named after the moon
i guess she could set her sights high
there's a man up there
I wonder if the cheese
will smell eventually
and what kind it is
if the moon is made of cheese
it must be rotting
befitting of some men
after a lovely steak dinner
they can't keep it in
tuesday's child
grace?
what the hell is grace?
so tuesday's child - her name is grace
graced with what?
lies?
auburn eyes?
piercing
like knives
till she dies
grace is what the world buys
in churches of stone
from a God
they don't believe in
cause
they fear:
Wednesday's child full of woe
Wednesday is where depression grows
like a fungus
between your toes
or lice in your cornrows
a disease in your
stomach that needs
to get out
the river of tears that
drowned alice and tossed her about
thursday's child is at least smart
cause we're all on the same path
he's not a goth or an emo
or any other kind of spazz
we've all got far to go
but some of us lie
and in the middle of our living
we don't even try
friday's child should stop being a martyr
I know 'cause that's me
no one cares
everyone wants
what the world can't see
friday's child is
the church girl
the "virgin" in silk
friday's child is the
mother, the naive
calf needing milk
That hides from
The shadows she knows
are there.
hides her eyes behind her brown curly hair
the bipolar one who doesn't know if she's bad or if she's good
should she be dead?
you know the other rhyme? the one
about the girl with the curl on her forehead?
saturday, work is no kind of life
let's skip saturday
because there is no hope for them
the ones who live to work
are dying to play
in their graves already
with the words that they say
sunday well gay means something else now.
I don't think sunday is the reason for
same-sex marriage
prop 8
pride
rainbows and crap
don't get me wrong
there's nothing wrong with that
bonny and blithe
well there's another model
full of herself
strutting
down the runways of Milan (pronounced not "lan" but "lon")
if she's happy twice (blithe AND gay)
what kind of drugs is she on?
And the sabbath day?!??
Is Ozzy there? can he sing me a tune?
Is that the day everyone acts like a loon?
The world's one screwed up place no matter when you're born
So that little rhyme on paper it should have been torn
I don't know when it was written
but it's too much of a fairytale
it doesn't work, the world's not fair.
Author notes
This is not meant to be "dirty-pretty", I don't know what the heck that is but I thought it would be easier to read this in chunks, not straight down since it's so long.
Prompt:
"Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay."

Wow; you surely packed this
piece with a punch. Remind me
not to eat while reading "Wednesday's child"
lol
I placed myself into Wednesday's child,
as that one fitted me the most. I really
felt like just that stanza alone, was
speaking directly to me.. and that's
hard to do as a poet and you've
mastered it successfully.
I love how you described each day
of the week and with so much
metaphor & detail to really
feed the mind with such
thought-provoking stanzas.
You did a marvelous job with
this one, and if this doesn't
grab gold, I will be utterly shocked.

The true Sabbath is actually Saturday. Sunday is the devils day. I like the unique style of ur poem.
