When thinking of relocating
here is the first thing
you should consider:
Are your odds of being struck by a comet
increased or decreased
by moving around a lot?
They are about the same
I would say...
so now that we have gotten
that out of the way,
lets talk about the advisability of
moving to another part of the country
and taking a chance
on a new love.
(At 61)
At 61!!
Hell ,Yeah!!
I mean ,I won't be 50 for another month
but if I had a shot
at a new love
AND moving to another part of the country,
all in one package,
I'd jump at it.
Let's face it..
youth is wasted on the young
and these days they jet all over the place
at the drop of the hat.
I don't remember having those options.
(Had to play it safe
for the wife
for the job
for the kids...)
How often does adventure
knock at the door
as the years go by?
Why I've recently been
reduced to staring out my window,
hoping that Adventure
will knock at my neighbors door
so that I can run out and tell Adventure
that he's not at home,
that he's gone bungee jumping on the moon
and cannot be reached,
(hopeing secretly
that a temporarily demoralised Adventure
will ask me if I would care to,say...
move to another part of the country
and take a chance on a new love...)
And what have you got to lose?
Once we've reached the hemi-centennial
of our lives
we've already lost:
our innocence
our preconceptions
our illusions
our hair
(sometimes)
and our dignity
(at least once)
We know that life can be
sad
disappointing,
embarrassing
uncomfortable
and not the way we planned it,
but it is seldom lethal.
On the other hand
life can be
exciting,
challanging'
joyful
romantic,
and full of surprises,
but seldom if we hide from it.
Whats the worst that could happen?
The worst that could happen
is to spend
the rest of your life
wondering...what if?
