I could write the classic
ole sad country song
about how I felt
that life had done me wrong
I could sing about how I lost my baby
she left me for another man
that I was at the end of my wits
it was simply more than I could stand
I would have to sing it all twangy
and throw in a verse of woe is me
I would need to say she hated my momma
and that is not the way it should be
Now to make it a number single
I should probably sing it off key
I could make a million dollars
there is only one thing stopping me
That instrument in the corner
cover with dust haunts me
You see my guitar
still thinks it's a tree

This was clever. I dont see how your guitar thinks it's a tree fits with the rest of the poem. I liked the poem except for that last part. You did a good job. Thanks for entering and Good luck in my contest.

A very cute poem that plays off of everything that normal country songs/poems are about. It reminds me of the song Backwards by Rascal Flatts (a song I love most dearly). I'm glad you decided to enter!!

A clever write sort of an anti-cowboy cowboy song.
Good luck in the contest and happy trails.

LOL This is a delightful poem with just the right touch of humor. Congratulations on the silver cup and good luck in the other contests.

this is really cute. I see the last verse as the chorus; inserted here and there and at the close ... fading out. Nice job and thank you for entering. I just have one suggestion and that is adding a verse about singing through your nose LOL
