          It means foreigner, sometimes derogatory, but I've never had it used against me in a bad way. I think the whole connotation of the word has improved in the past several years. I find that more white people use it in a bad way than Japanese people XD.

          I should take singing + music lessons then acting lessons. It would be SO cool to be in a drama. Sometimes they do have foreign characters...then cast them with Japanese people. For instance (although I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM + HIS ACTOR), in Nodame Cantabile, the maestro is a foreigner with a hilarious gaijin accent played by a Japanese man.
