And there won't always be stars
Pin-points of light to disguise the night
You've got to let the dark be dark
Because some things never change
And there's nothing you can do
I can call you sweetie until the days are cold
Doesn't matter, you'll still grow old
Let me take all your words and stack them up
And I'll take some of that old glue
That you've had sitting on the shelf for about sixteen years
And I'll make me a box called "Past"
And I'll look into it every day
To never let you go away
Because January has come again to haunt you
I can see it does
See, watch sweetie, I knew he'd be
Hurting you some more
You can fall in love again you know
But, listen baby, he'll never go
away

Author notes
I have a thing for pet names (ex sweetie, baby, honey, child, ect.) and in poems I use them in both a derogatory and a loving way. I commonly switch narrators and subjects without warning and it's up to the reader to interpret what's going on. I do this because I tell things in my poems that I'm not ready to tell other people. But I mixx it up so much that I can tell the entire truth and you won't know.

I liked this. The line "I can call you sweetie until the days are cold" was one that stood out to me. I'm not sure why, but I found it an interesting concept. Either way overall I enjoyed the read.
Thanks for sharing.
