red balloon

my red balloon
                        flew away

taking wonder-

I am left
your tears of mortality...

cushion
        my fall
  from innocence

It used to break my heart when I'd lose a balloon to the sky...then I got to where I would set them free on purpose, to watch them soar until I could no longer see their trail. Indeed, your words speak volumes, even in brevity.

  • a good poem penned, ah we have to release the olden times and move into the future, there is a time for eveything i reckon, so we must let go of all the balloons we once held when young, such is the way of this crazy life we live in and endure.

  • Wow... this epitomizes(sp) the loss of childhood and innocence... you crammed so much emotion and turmoil into so few words... this is pure excellence... so deep and profound... not to mention thought provoking... never change a thing

  • so beautifully profound... x

love the playful childlike style coupled with the loss of innocence -'tears of mortality' , lots of room for the reader to imagine. like how the 'from innocence' is visually wide too, the mattress to land on. great little poem

    • Thanks, Mark. The brevity is a wonderful challenge for me... smiles....
I'm really happy you like this one.
