The Rain Will Kill Us All

The sky cries a river of tears
Under the tree she stands
Daren't she to venture off
Or even hold out her hands

She toils away everyday
Yet times like these she waits
The object of cruel judgement
All support the one she hates

The Wizard offers power
An offer rare but sweet
But Elphaba is steadfast
For a cause that can't be beat

Tyranny, the truest evil
Emeralds paid for in blood
Loss of rights for beast and man
The Quadlings drowning in mud

The Wizard's peace, a blood stained land
The Munchkins left in war
All this for the hope they saw
When Nessarose ruled before

A symbol of this land she is
The pain and misery
Ruse long since stolen her friends
All who's left is Chistery

Now all is gone from her dark past
Her love, her friends, her pride
No Wizardly plan could win
Yet these droplets make her hide

A tiny tear from Heaven's eye
Will wipe away all lies
Yet Oz is thriving on these
"Wicked" her name when fear cries

To show the world the truth is death
The rain will kill us all
Wash away the masks and lies
The truth will make Oz fall.

  • I already read it, genius.

    I just forgot to comment.

Anyway, I like this. It's not too bad, for a rhyming poem.

    Best stanza:

    "Tyranny, the truest evil
    Emeralds paid for in blood
Loss of rights for beast and man
    The Quadlings drowning in mud"

I probably just think that because I like Quadling Country. That was damn near one of my favourite sections of Son of a Witch. *sigh* poor Liir...

Also, that rhyme ("blood" and "mud") wasn't as forced or as predictable as you typically write. I'm proud of you!

Keep up the good work, Puppy! Try out some free verse, sometime, mmkay? It's not as scary as you think.

PS: Yes, I got the gum; chill. I'll be at Larry J. on Tuesday, too. Don't know the times, yet, but I think they're 9:00-5:00. I'll have to leave sometime between there to take my final for summer school, but I'll be there.
