I stand inches from third base
Every once in awile looking at my coaches face.
I know there will be a sign in his eye
that will tell me home, I need to fly.
I watch the pitcher get ready to throw
It misses the catchers mit, there I go!
I run so fast, so scard to death
Trying to remember to take a breath.
Almost there, I take a slide
Giving my coach a look that says "I tried."
"Safe!" I can't believe my ears.
I know everyone will remember this play through the years.
What did you think

I do play basketball, but this is about baseball. I don't play baseball, my younger brother does. I wrote the poem after watching one of their games.

Welcome to AllPoetry!~
What a fun poem this turned out to be!
I really wasn't expecting this as it isn't along the lines of "traditional poetry" (what is that anyway?!)
and showed so much fun and laughter!
Poetry can be about anything and you really showed that here- i loved the picture too!!
Great job!
