The Gull In Blur

This is such a fantastic time to be,
the sole realm that permits me to be me.
I’m paddling in murky sea-green waves,
jumping overboard the love boat, and making a hasty save.

Say this isn’t so,
how lovely and perfect my story is leaving me cold.
I’m straddling the edge of forever,
sauntering through time and space like a burning trailblazer.

I’m thanking heaven and kissing hell,
looking all fine and dandy, no longer pretending to be well.
I know this is just the beginning,
because what we have can never end without a declamatory flash from lightning.

This is how perfect we look together,
walking around like there’s no hurry and ignoring all others.
We’ve the world at our feet,
the sky open to starry interpretations and amazing feats.

I’m leaving my reality,
for a life with you, in its deepest fantasy.
Please say you don’t take this seriously,
because I never do, and I don’t want to hurt you like a bleeding casualty.

Your smile is so rare it hurts my eyes with its shining radiance;
usually I just sigh and move on, leaving you in my trailing brilliance.
This time, it’s different,
I’m staying because my art is pushing me to a whole new level of fervent.

I act the fool, I never take off any of my faces,
you know me well, but no one can ever replenish the empty spaces.
I act coy, but the truth is, I know so much more than what they think,
and when all this is over, I sit myself down and immortalize all in ink.

I need you perhaps more than you need me,
I’m taking you along in a story that I hope you won’t ever see.
This is the greatest fraud I’ve ever pulled,
the wool over one’s eyes, guess who’s the fool.

Everything is just so amazing,
and you’re so lovely, so bright, you’ve left me wondering.
The ugliness that underlines the perfection,
the lies miring the lonely truth, heralding damnation.

We’re so beautiful together,
our glass reflections make me cringe and then mimic the awe of envious others.
I think we have a good thing going;
the gull wearing the feathered cap, shaking the screen; and suddenly, the whole picture blurring.
