Love falls through
Like a four-letter statistic.
Time falls off like
Lucy in the Sky.
I fall out like
Cold War shelter.
Falling from closure,
Feigning to fly.
You came through
Like a seven-digit love note.
I fall up like
Shel Silverstein.
She took off like
Poor old Prudence.
Hide from the ground,
I can love her on the sly.
Author notes
'Love Falls Through,' is about the absurdity and convolution of experiencing one-sided unconditional love.

One-sided, unconditional love...nor there is a difficult situation to bear. I like the unique imagery to expression that emotion. It made for a more layered, more rewarding poem to read.
The one reference I did not recognize was "poor old Prudence." I can think of the Beatles' song "Dear Prudence." But I couldn't think of any other one.
Thanks, I enjoyed reading it.

it is a Beatles reference. actually, to be more specific it's an, "Across the Universe," reference. In reference to the character Prudence, who is a Lesbian, which I think is cool, but has a deeper significance for me, personally.
I was with my significant other at the time while I was watching this movie, and she got especially emotional during the, "Dear Prudence," scene.
She came out of the closet not long after. She's largely the inspiration for this poem.

Wow. The allusions on this piece are astounding. I'll admit I'm not well versed on all of them, but your words are powerful. There is much absurdity indeed...
