Before you read this, go to http://www.myspace.com/hammockmusic and begin listening to the song Maybe They Will Sing For Us Tomorrow.
I breathe slowly in
and out, slower still
drawing in the colors
that swirl within the mist
until the skies clear
and I can see the vast expanse
where the best of my hopes lay
as I wait for the chance
to take you
close within my arms
and pull you close to kiss you
like the darkness kisses stars
We whisper
soft and low like the crescent moon
barely above the horizon
in a dream all its own
till the clouds should rise
and pull it close
like I shall soon pull you
close into my heart
As we both breathe in slowly
and out, slower still
both drawing with shimmering colors
all the love that we feel
I breathe slowly in
and out, slower still
drawing in the colors
that swirl within the mist
until the skies clear
and I can see the vast expanse
where the best of my hopes lay
as I wait for the chance
to take you
close within my arms
and pull you close to kiss you
like the darkness kisses stars
We whisper
soft and low like the crescent moon
barely above the horizon
in a dream all its own
till the clouds should rise
and pull it close
like I shall soon pull you
close into my heart
As we both breathe in slowly
and out, slower still
both drawing with shimmering colors
all the love that we feel
Author notes
It's a beautifully clear night and I am alone to watch the stars. Perhaps someday I will live the stories I paint with words...May it be soon! But for now, it is enough to lay and gaze in awe.

i love how you have a song to go with the poem. that is so cool. i really like the song also, btw.
and your poetry was gorgeous. it totally fit. it painted such a calm, yet intense(?) picture. maybe intense is the wrong word. i dont know, like.... it was real. it was just one layer, but many.
ah ha ha, i dont make sense. well, i really loved it. thanks for entering!
