The Princess

She was so very beautiful
So warm, gentle, and kind.
And he kept her in a secret place
Deep inside his mind.

And there she stayed for ages
Until one day at last
She appeared to him as if to come
From somewhere out of the past.

To him, she was majestic as
Any royalty on the earth.
And being in her presents
Caused wealth to have no mirth.

Her movements were so graceful,
Her countenance was bright.
And at the time he met her
His darkness turned to light.

He thought she was a princess,
As truly her name implied.
He thought of her as royalty,
And worshiped her; or tried.

This dream he dreamed, had it come true,
Or was she foreboding era
That appeared to him from within his mind
With the looks, and the name of Sarah?

Author notes

This piece was written around 1983. The Hebrew word Sarah indicates a woman of high rank, and is sometimes translated as "princess" or goddess, or "high holy one".

    Graceful and Stylish

You have written a poem that in several ways is a little unusual. Firstly you have written of a Love that you have held sacred within your heart for a long time. Secondly, you have used no highly charged or emotional combinations of words, instead you have used the ordinary everyday words. Thirdly, your style is plain and simple and extremely refreshing, for most writers try to display their vast command of the language.
I have totally enjoyed this poem not only for the style in which you have written it, but also because of the very reason that you set pen to paper, so that you may honour the woman you love, your wife. May your Love never falter.

A lovely write and I wonder if Sarah ever had the chance to read this? Why would you want to change it? If you wrote it sometime around 1983 then that is how you wanted it to be, so leave it true to the way you felt then. Sheila

As far as I know the Sarah that it was written for has never read, or heard of it. She moved away before it was finished, and never had the chance. The last I heard she was somewhere around the Savannah, GA. area.
You're probably right about leaving it the way it is and it more than likely will be. Thanks for coming by Sheila, always nice to see you have been here.
      Gentle caresses,
      Ron

Sarah IS a beautiful name, and I'm sure the people associated with that name are equally so. I know the name will always be special to me. Sounds as if your Grandmother is special to you. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. I'm happy you enjoyed.

Such grace does this piece hold...
it is a lovely name indeed....
I wonder if the subject has ever read this...
    How the heart remembers....
Needless to say this was like a prayer to a beautiful angel.
The beauty of the days gone by....

Just a joy to read my friend,
    Liam

Good to see you again Poe. Thanks for your comment, and please know it is always a welcome sight. To answer your question, the inspiration for this piece is totally oblivious to it's existence. Hopefully, someday she will read and know that it was intended for her.
      Blessings my friend,
      Ron
