half-truths


tonight there was a man at Mc Donalds
he sat in the booth behind us
nodding vehemently at my protests
to sitting with my back to the door
[they're out to get me, and I can't
see if I need to make a quick

getaway

eyes nervous, holding back
a dam of questions
too intrigued while trying to not look creepy
[he did]

who do you turn to when you've hit rock bottom
he asked. I turn to god.
are you young ladies saved?

we smiled and nodded
