Dear Aanika
I noticed you flinched when the rain fell
each drop splitting you well
like the lashing of a spiteful tongue
across your side.
(you only found
white in those men,
white fingers, white lies
and not a white star
in sight.)
Did he ever tell you
the daisies mimic your
yellow;
and that you are much too young to understand
your own beauty (though
I see myself in you
and wonder if you could
ever kiss the rain
well enough
to stay soaked.)
I know turquoise awaits
if you keep singing upwards,
but as advice from another
budding flower,
stay stray of white
for now.
Yours faithfully
Emma

How sweet these words stay stray of whie for now, have you ever heard better advice dispensed through poetry.
I almost had an image of men in big old white hats but that is for another place, another read.
I like it , I like it so!

So wonderfully written - pure poetry in my eyes

You do wonderful things with color, Peach.
Another rainbow here
and a poem with great depth as well.

Wonderful. A beautiful letter to a beautiful young woman.

i love the images of rain and whiteness that you carried throughout this. this was probably the most beautifully poetic letter that i've received so far.

i'm amazed that you think i'm beautiful, and that you even read my poetry when i barely even know who you are, and we've never had a conversation. (which i think we should change, by the way.)
thank you so much for this letter. it was incredibly uplifting and actually made me feel safe. i don't know why, but it did. you do.
