Acid Rain

Missing image

Acid Rain

Apocalyptic wars have caused decay
Corruption has destroyed the world we knew
Inoculations kept disease at bay
Destroying flesh as radiation grew
Relentless men have caused this disarray
A scorching sun replaced the skies of blue
In vain we try to stay within the shadows
Now that rain feels more like poison arrows

Absorbing toxins now are common place
Children eat the caustic foods we feed them
Ironically they’re gone without a trace
Daily doses from an unknown cell stem
Relentless fools destroyed the human race
Abandoned buildings that we now condemn
Identified by what we have destroyed
No place upon this Earth may be enjoyed

  • wonderful observations, putting human damage in contrast to nature I suppsoe worthy of each others passing now and again to obliterate everything. I think I am not far wrong. Nicely written, wonderful in fact!

  • Magnificent...

Blessed are those that see how things affect our planet; and take stand to alert on the wrongdoing to our Earth.

I enjoy to read acrostic, but when it is written in major art ~ like "Acid Rain" it is a pleasing gift; a true Olympian ambrosia, no matter the subject dealt.

I have learned from the contents of "Acid Rain".

    In respect and admiration,

    Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

I read this poem, as I read all your poems.

This time your imagery scared me.

    Love, Peter

Beautiful and sadly true! We fools seem to destroy all we touch.

I love the images you painted in the first stanza - it reminds me of another portrayal of the apocalypse I've seen, in the game Fallout 3. As jeff says, the acrostic was unobtrusive - I barely noticed until after reading

    That is DARK!

Ottava done with brilliance, of course, the acrostic is unobtrusive, as it should be, and the message fits the content.

    Superb stuff
