For all the nightmares
you didn't shield

about what I did

I tried to make you proud of.

For not keeping those guys
from hurting me
For not protecting me
against your own blood.

Dad, I hate you,
And everything you never stood for
every responsibility
You turned your back on.

For not being a part of my life
for not providing for my sister and I
For ruining
my mother's memories.

But I would like to say,
To the only thing you ever did;
Thank you, Dad,
For leaving us.
It was the best gift,
you could have ever given.

my dad was never there for me, and I was hurt when I had mandatory visits with him. My sister too, was hurt. He forced my mom to live in hiding with him, cheated on her, and never once bothered to help raise us/pay for anything we needed. But, we would never have made it as far as we had if he hadn't walked out, and for that, I thank him.

      Sometimes the brutal truth is the best thing we have; yeah I'm not a huge fan of the day but there are still a lot of fathers out there who do deserve the appreciation; thank you for reading!
