My Affliction and I

Cut me out and cleanse the wound
My poison stays in your soul.
Cover the windows, bolt the doors
You can't shut me from your mind.
I'll creep back in and fill the hole,
Settle down in my comfy bed.
Curled up inside your sickened heart,
I'll never leave- you're safe with me,
Alone and cold inside my arms.
You let me in, desiring comfort, warmth
And I held you close to me.
I'm in your skin, spread throughout:
Rotten meat, freshly wrapped.
Together we make one, a brightly coloured package.
A feeble prize with a lasting catch.

---

You caught me out and knocked me down,
Reached inside and settled there to stay;
Incurable; cruel and yet so weak.
You stopped my life not half-way through,
My love unused, unknown.

The hook to keep him tied to me,
The knife to carve my name into his skin.
Hold my hand and drag me back,
If it wasn't this there'd be another.
Take me away and keep him safe;
Heart untainted, to give to whomever he may wish but me.

Encased inside your frozen embrace,
I can't let go- you cling to me
No matter how I squirm.
I want escape, to run to him,
But I fear you'd hold him too.

---

I take the life you could have had
And dry up all your hope,
Leaving ours a sterile wasteland.
Lust suppressed, life made simple.
You wished for fewer complications
And so I took them away from you.
Your fear was needless, I have it now.
Together we will hide
And your life will mean more after.
