monthly...

a troubled man noticed
a barn owl on his window sill
every full moon,
from winter to early summer

finally in midsummer
the even more troubled man
spoke to the bird

asked many deep and probing questions:
fate, memories, loved ones gone before
and the owl answered every question

"hoo..."

Then the deeply troubled man
went to his psychiatrist, Dr. Mymoney De Al
whom he'd seen monthly
for ten years

Explained the owl, and the full moons,
the questions, always the same answers

at the end of which the psychiatrist
looked up from his pad, the bright lamp
behind his head...stared intently
at the profoundly perturbed patient

and De-Al said:

Who...?

Sometimes the psychiatrist has to take time off and have a little fun, loosen everything up so to say, he said "Who" instead of hmmm, enjoyed the humor.

yes... sometimes distance is the thing, if we get too close to the paranoid man, we see "maybe he does have enemies..." ... thanks PK

    Hahahaha

This reminds me of an old colloquialism from Mule Bone by Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston... "yo’ feet don't fit no limb, stop sayin'… "hoo"! LOL

What a witty work of words. Thanks for my chuckle for the day.

    Much Love ♥

I love this, especially the twist in the end Though humorous, I think this can be taken seriously too, which is, in any case, what makes the humor work.

    Great job!

Yes unfortunately there is satire here too, people caught in an endless cycle of weary advice, I think the atom was easier to to deal with than the human equation...PK
