save your tongue of those foul words
they’re bleeding and they’re broken
you throw yourself to what’s been heard
they’re twisting and they’ve spoken
you are the harlequin, the hourglass
that’s ticking until it’s almost done
if only promises of snow would last
longer than Summer’s scorching sun
you were too bright, never turning too soon
always knowing and always seething
let the fire burn strong and block out the moon
always showing and always gleaming
never let them touch you and your past
pull away the proprium of your ribbon
you were only strong enough to outlast
the ones that said you couldn’t go on
like seasons past and seasons long gone
we were foolish to think our love would go on
