i know you can't throw them away.

do you think of me
when you hear a song
or pass a place
or read old journals?
what about all the gifts
i've given you?
do they lie unused
in a closet
next to a shoebox
full of pictures?
what have you done
with the memories?
i know you will never forget them.

sooner or later
i'm bound to come up.
no matter how long
