Arise, O Sleepy Nation!

We are with you, Brothers and Sisters of Persia!
We are with you in your fight for what's Right and Decent
No longer are you bound by mere Men who "follow" God
Your Path to Revolution is fraught with much Peril
Make yourselves known to the world who you are!

Let your anger boil over let your rage run free!
Your rich history should be able to guide you
Don't let mere men use your past against you
Victims too long of crimes past, rise up and be heard!
We, the world, as Brothers and Sisters, stand by your side!

Your leaders have never cared about you, only their coffers
They get rich on bleeding out the poor and the young
The Majlis is nothing but a puppet for the regime at hand
You know this to be true, and finally have the courage to stand
I'm in the fight with you, for I am one of You!

Fight! March! SCREAM! SHOUT!
You are PROUD of who you are, Persians of Greatness!
The Long Road has just begun, this Revolution will not stop
I just wish I could be there with you, My Brothers and Sisters.
You are fighting for your country, for my country, Iran!

Please tell me what you think

I love this~ such an intese topics!

  • Extraordinary

Beautifully written, each word conveys strength and truth.
it is unfortunate that in this day and age that we still have to resort to aggression, it seems actually that we have to do so more now as mankind starts to fall more in love with power and money then they are with peace and harmony

this was a very inspirational poem. i like how in the line:

    Fight! March! SCREAM! SHOUT!

you started out with only exclamation marks and then added capitals to get your point across. overall this was a very effective poem and i enjoyed it. nice write.

I think this piece is interesting. I think you espouse a common feeling among those of your nationality and not one which is often voiced with such zeal.

I would have liked to see some reference to historical/cultural achievement as well as the more revolutionary aspects. But I'm a history bod

I appreciated the emotion in this poem.

  • well crafted peice of gold

I liked how you love Persia. Like Persia is a woman, you are her child, and she is wounded and needs you to hold her in your arms for 4 stanza's. Perhaps God should go to Persia, so the men who follow him will be there and can hold her in their arms too, just like you, and show the phoney's to be who they really are...sick and weak.

    Revolution from Below

Obviously the timing of this is precious. I'm assuming you were inspired by recent events no doubt.

I agree completely with what you are saying and I like the way to describe yourself. The repetition of "brother and sisters" is essential. I also really like the capitalizing of certain words, enforces the point that something are greater than just politics or even democracy. It is about Persia! The reference to that word is excellent - it expands the point beyond our current time, and gives a greater sense of legacy and nationalism.

Well done, I enjoyed this very much. It is rare to find politically driven poetry.

    Passionate

Your write exudes much passion and gives the feelling of empowerment. There is no doubt about the freedom that you stand for, that this poem stands for. I do not condone revolution, or war, but neither do I condone tyranny. The government should always be the one that is duly elected by the people. When it is not, there must be protests and yes, even revolt.

  • Peace, freedom and equality would be the utmost harmonious goal for Iran and ALL nations. It would seem that the human race would understand by now that violence does not bring peace. Disregarding cultural differences does not bring respect. The fractured humanity does not promote unity. When we impose our will on the backs of the world, the impact has disturbing effects. I hope for wisdom and understanding. When we choose emapthy and knowledge we gain authentic power...
Thank you for sharing this most heartfelt piece.
    Peace and Light, Kendal

Wow, this reminds me of the great writers prior to the American Revolution, such as Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and especially the "Sons of Liberty".

Here's an external link for more info on the "Sons of Liberty":
