Breakfast in bed on a Saturday

from the larder, toasted pancakes sugared
sprinkles of summer through the lace curtains
make waves on our skin
i pretend to be interested in sports news on the tv
for which you mock and ramble on about the 'off-side' rule
laid by your side
we chat about the day ahead
needing space & clothes
for our nakedness

skin against skin
your body becomes mine again
tv flickers making a kaleidoscope
of butterflies and random scores
knees, fingers, toes curl up
apart we smile
there is a drifting of weekend magical fairies and pixies
that want to play at staying-in-bed all day
should we choose to;
who has hidden my clothes
maybe an imp with a wide grin & playful greengrass eyes

    this is magical

  • So who made breakfast? You? Him? The french maid? hehe.

Anyways, I hate cable sports news channel. I have more discerning taste. I like the vh1 reality shows and every Sat morning I watch Brooke Knows Best where Brooke Hogan can't decide if she wants to forgive her 50 year old mother for cheating on her famous father the Hawk with a 19 year old boy who she happens to now be living with. Hahahaha

I like how you used colours here, Gill.
The way I can see them playing on the walls...very cool.
and of course, i love the pixie reference, hehe, ego-maniac that I am.

big smiles around reading this poem, gilly

of course the "off side rule" made me smile...the british lions are touring SA at the moment, but who wants to watch rugby when there's the magic of "play at staying-in-bed all day" - no off-side rule there!!

beautiful, tender, softly sensual - just magical

Oooh...what a gift you have, my darlin' chilly when it comes to musing and penning a moment of ordinary splendor. As always I wish to drape your words around me like a well-worn beloved shawl and snuggle into night so that I might wait to see the dawning.

    Soft and beautiful...just like you.

PS. Thank you for remembering Teresa with me.
