Love Transcending

The world that teaches us what we are not,
the predators or savagery, or prey
A cold, indifferent universe has wrought
us living souls with sacred things to say.

Like this: We are not savages that feed
upon the carcass of a slaughtered foe,
nor need to fear of wretchedness and need
giving in to the winds of fear that blow.

But though the choices some are wont to make
will imitate the jungle's savagery,
redemption's found when we will not forsake
a sacred love that urges us to BE.

For joy, we've always had what we would need...
a love transcending wretched lust or greed.

Please tell me what you think

    Nicely Done

Quite a thought provoking write sadly there's a strong element of truth within it
along with some nicely chosen imagery to express it so nicely. I like the last stanza
best of all.Yes unconditional LOVE is ALL we need.not a predator run capitalist
dog eat dog poverty amidst plenty society (wasn't that nice imagery Pam ?)
    Best Wishes .....George...

a good piece of poetry penned, ah the slaughtered foe, well perhaps we do not go out and actually kill to eat, but all those wrapped up produts in the supermarkets and such, they are the remnants of life, meaty joints, sausagaes all neatly packed etc ah love, for the light on high, all smiles.

Nice job here Pam...very inspirational work again. I like what you wrote down. THANKS AGAIN!

  • Human nature,
we tend to be governed by our emotions, perception brings out these emotions, they are not who we are but we cling to them.
    Just simply be
    accept and embrace,
this is who we are beneath the superficial
    I was
as I read, you have hit the mark
    beautifully
    God bless you my friend...

    Trailblazing...!

I think this is excellent, you have cut through the jungles that live in the mind, self imposed/inherited by whatever means; nourished continuousely by sheer ignorance; we blind ourselves to the truth all the time, alas the animal lives on inside...as long as we keep it caged it will control us...let it go, it cannot harm us if we neither fear nor acknowledge it, there is no other way; the road to freedom is long and hard but it is there patiently awaiting our silent footsteps the choice is ours alone...
it's so nice to see your poetry evolving along this path my dear friend! I watch you with increasing interest and enthusiasm you have taught me many things in your quiet way...
    here's a little quotation for you;
'do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail'
    Ralph Waldo Emerson
    have a blessed day!
