Coyote

I hear him again,
back from some sojourn
across the blue night,
nearby, not howling -
as in some matinee,
some black and white idea
of life on this brutal land -
plaintive cries slapping
against the nearby mountain.

Coyote is alone, against it -
and I like to imagine he imagines
the scent of another,
her cries, away, reaching him -
but he is married to this land,
this life, this hellish desert.

He turns his face to the sky,
to the stars and moon,
the scent of death upon him
and the distant sound of vultures
coming, always coming.

"No regrets Coyote
We just come from such different sets of circumstance"

Perhaps we are not so different from these creatures, love and its inablility to be a stable influence can make us loners unwilling to reach out again. The coyote howls for recognition by others, we learn to love for that, despite the agony of when it is denied C

ah, this one spoke to me... the battle between love and real life. i could only sigh... so poignant this is.... i could hear the lonesome howl
