I solidify reminders
of distressing servitude,
transference of that guilt I felt
I now dismiss, conclude.
Access blocked, no entry now
where your deadly lies collect
within this empty heart of mine
so filled with such regret.
Pragmatic with excuses
now turned rancid with the facts,
rewarding with pretended love
to submissiveness exact.
Magnanimous with feted charm
to one as young as I,
but now the icy dew of truth
no longer I deny.
Oh yes to me immortal
for my eyes were filled with stars,
I had that aptitude I think
and now I view the scars.
At times reminders pertinent
I cradle as I cry,
the past has taught me lessons
that never more I shall defy.
