Unforgiving

I thought the black eyes
and the split lips
                                          and the cracked ribs
were just proof that you loved me.

[you know, like flowers and chocolates.]

And when you raped me,
I thought it was your right;
so I bit my lips and hid my tears.

[I learned not to scream after the first time.]

I found the courage to escape your clutches,
and I've forgiven you for all you've done -
in fact, I feel a little sorry for you.

[But I'll never be able to forgive myself
for letting you control me for so long.]

.

  • I liked how you have it separated into kinda two different parts. I also really liked your beginning and how you formatted it. Great write!
