Green Earth Grey

We cannot wait

'Till the clouds are the blackish grey
reflected from the sea
And the wildlife is the myth
that we never get to see
With the cars under our feet
The remotes taking control
And the world within a screen
And the children are too old

We cannot wait

For the trees to dissappear
to the oxygen machine
And the glaciers that will melt
And the slowly rising sea
'Till the robots make the farms
'Till computers are our arms
Until all of this persists
so that nothing real exists

We cannot wait

Until kids read story books
of the grass and deer and aspen
of the forest and the brook
like the unicorn and dragon
Read like it could never be
Of the sea that once was blue
Like a legend or a myth
as if it were never true

We cannot wait
