Shadows collecting.
Clouding the vault of heaven
From plaintive eyes,
Outstretched hands begging;
Forgiveness, absolution, emptying.
I am collecting rain
In upturned hands.
Palms facing my salvation,
Hoping to hold
Fullness of life.
Collecting rain
To feed my thirst.
For the truth
That ducats my eyes,
Coppers my inheritance,
Pays the Ferryman.
Collecting rain
In shallow graves to lay my body in.
Bathing my fears,
Drowning my life,
Mourning my passing.
Collecting rain
Falling from black skies.
Empty palms,
Open fingers,
Holding nothing.
Collecting rain
In cracked glass.
Poured across my scars
Mapping my body,
Topography
Chaliced, chastened.
Collecting rain.
Baptising the sinner.
Cleansing me,
Washing me,
Liberating me.
Shadows.
Collecting rain.
Collecting dreams.
Collecting hope.
Collecting my life.
