Deep in my soul is where you resided,
I couldn't explain the emotions I felt,
So powerfully strong my love for you;
But I wasn't ready, I was scared,
I had to make you believe in yourself,
That you needed to move on ... alone;
So that I could swallow my own doubts,
With you on my mind and heart I turned.
I wanted to tell you so many times,
I couldn't truly understand it myself,
I did see how much you cared, loved, needed,
I could see it in your eyes when you looked at me,
But it wasn't the time or place for us,
I held in the tears; how hard it was to do so,
All I wanted to do was hold you, kiss you,
With you on my mind and heart I turned.
You accepted who I was and what I did,
Even though you didn't always understand,
You would just smile and nod, breaking inside,
Many lessons I needed to learn ... on my own,
I know you would have been beside me,
To help with the problems I endured,
I prayed everyday that you would understand,
With you on my mind and heart I turned.
So many journeys’ I made, so much sadness,
My heart and soul weak for your strength,
I needed you more than I did the first time,
You waited for me for so long and I came,
Embracing you and watching a tear from your eye,
I spoke those words you longed to hear,
The words I longed to say ... I love you,
With you on my mind and heart, I no longer turned.

We all have an inner voice. You speak to it without saying it directly. It is more than a conscience. It says everything about timing and our sense of how the world works in harmony. Beautifully said.

I like this poem a lot. It is full of love. Your words are most powerful. I am a little turned off with the contractions. Try changing them and see how your poem reads then.
