People should know they are insane
To be killing and destroying
War is so dumb and inane
Those at war are so annoying
No one wants to be called crazy
Should be clear war is already
People's thought on war is hazy
Reasoning here is quite unsteady
All of us must see the truth
It is insane to have a war
Dumb, insane, and uncouth
Are those who would go that far
We don't now use atom bombs
Understanding has begun
Now it's time all dads and moms
See no solutions with a gun

People at war are insane, because killing and destruction are detrimental to people. The people of the world should see that this is self-evident. No one wants to be considered crazy unless they are crazy. This principle is already working to control nuclear weapons -- just needs to be realized, scaled down to sticks and stones.

Simple but profound
Straightforward verse pointing out the absurdity we all should know but still fail to heed...poem acknowledges the insanity of the paradox...nice rhyming, well conceptualized work poet

What can I say that hasn't already been said by others who have commented on this piece.
War does nothing but destroy lives and nations. But, as long as one nation has something another covets we will have wars. Much as I know this will irk some who read this I do have to say that as long as war cannot be avoided someone has to fight. I applaud and honor the men and women who serve this country and others so we that don't can live safely and free.

War is so unnecessary and a terrible reflection on the world today. I think there are people who like war for its own sake and when they have power that is where things go wrong. I liked your point that people have realised that nuclear war is wrong so just see war in the same way - then the shooting might stop. A poem that will strike a chord with many people.

even Einstein agreed that war is insanity and that those who kill others at the behest of their government are at the very least, stupid. Even sticks and stones would be used ... it would be nice if we could do away with greed for most wars are based on greed or religion or both. Maybe no borders either ... no need for passports

Aye, I quite agree. All that money wasted on warfare could be put to better use in every country of the world. But selfish, greedy ego-maniacs don't desire to improve the lives of the citizens of the world, since their minds are too twisted with hatred, bigotry and prejudice. If only this were an ideal world, then we might have lasting peace.

There is a plethora of truth in this poem. But the reasons for fighting wars of today are not as cut and dry as the wars that were fought in the past. Nowadays governments wage war for monetary gains. But that’s the problem when the people of any country elect a business man in to any office of power.

aye, we do know that we are all insane, but we amble on regardless, blowing things up and killing other people, just because we can i think. a good poem. maybe one day we will wake up from the haze of madness and really start tackling the universe.

Almost all wars happen because evil old men who aren't at any risk lie to foolish young men who believe they are immortal.
Maybe one day we can educate the foolish and the evil into being decent people.

Yes, you are so correct about people who wage war being crazy.
This week a teen asked me if there was anything good about Adolph Hitler. So... We read about his life and there were many good things about him in the beginning, but they were mixed with insanity and negativity, which is where he got off course and became a murderer. So, yes, people who wage war are evil and it comes from craziness. I think George Bush was having a huge ego trip when he invaded Iraq. I remember his day of "Shock and Awe" when he lobbed missiles into Baghdad and I recognized it as insanity even that first day.

yup war is bad... well recently i had a thought about war.. the world today wouldn't have been the same if there were no wars... when ever there was a war the world cracked but when it ended the world grew back much stronger.. but also war today might end all the tomorrows.. war is something thats in our nature... i guess

Who in their right mind could not agree with this poem? My cat Saber has the perfect solution to avoiding war. He runs, hides, lies down and goes to sleep. I love your poem and the content.
