...your hands.
Dear to me
like the warm morning pillow
I won’t leave.
*
Do you remember
when I tried to show you
the most beautiful puppies
in the old Chinese shop,
the one filled with old papers,
green and red tea boxes
and sweet and austere scents
of burning sticks of incense?
My eyes quietly begging you
to buy the smallest one,
the color of cinnamon,
but just for a short moment
before you squeezed the answer
into my palms...
Yes...
...I touched the soft silky fur
and before the wind chimes
faded away behind our backs
I knew that next day
we will not enter this shop again.

Oh this one speaks to me, Sonja, because my little puppy was killed by other bigger dogs today

Such a gentleness about this hands poem of yours. One of the things that I love about your poetry is the sincerity and authenticity of voice you always seem to press against the pages, the intimacy, the love, the tenderness - and this one once again shows just that. You did well to make the prompt your own, to add your own personal voice and touch to it. Jaa, this one touched me - lovely poetry. thank you so much for entering.

This is a beautiful piece of poetry you have penned. You give beauty in colour, which adds this soft and loving texture to your poem. Thank you for sharing your poetic heart.
Be blessed in all you ever do.

You are very generous to your quiet readers inviting us to be a part of such private and intimate moments. 'Do you remember...' you sweep us along with your excitement, your attention to detail, the colours, smells and sounds enrich, for us, the experience, ajoj, i could almost feel my hand being squeezed.

A lovely write. Heartfelt. Good imagery, flow and tone. Lovely depth of feeling. You paint a delightful picture with your words. Vivid descriptives. Nice use of simile. Good word choice, alliteration and nice assonance. Well penned and much enjoyed. Best wishes in the contest.
