lazy water plays a green mirror for the sky,
where birds have enough branches to land
and small rabbits run all over, curious and shy.
I know the place where I’d like to go,
to walk with my love, holding hands,
to listen to our soft and measured paces on the path
while the moss absorbs them bowing its head.
It is so nice to sit there and to relax,
talking about books and dogs and cats,
about kids, our future and past,
or just watch people passing by.
We sat on the bench in the late afternoon shade
watching the sun’s big ball going down west,
while vermilion clouds softly glided
over the sleepy earth’s backbone, calling the dusk,
whispering about tomorrow’s wind and rain.
Blackbirds sang sweet love serenade’s just for us.
His eyes held golden lights, my head on his chest,
at that very special moment I was his only bride.
I know the place where ducks live undisturbed,
a nice pond in the middle of the promenade,
they built a nest between irises and sedge
ducklings under mother’s wings, their natural shade.
I have the place where I am always safe,
where I lean my head to take a rest,
where we breathe quietly, sharing days and nights,
sharing kisses, bread and wine.

An absolutely lovely, refreshing poem1
This is just the thing to read after a hot day of lifting heavy things and moving them to distant places. I can sit here in front of the computer, drink a cold glass of tea, and read intelligent verse. I'm glad you have the shy rabbits where you are. We have two pet rabbits who walk underneath the table and bump their heads against our legs when they want attention or think they deserve a treat. A lovely poem.

Quietly beautiful
Having had -and resolved - a skirmish with the writer a few weeks ago, I am only too glad to see this little low-key piece. Well done!

You paint a vivid wonderland of colour and beauty.
Sounds like a place where one could just let go and let the worries of the world fal off the shoulder.
Splendidly written indeed, smile always.

"to listen to our soft and measured paces on the path"
Yes, it is such a glorious thing, to be still & listen as Love walks this path of purity & splendor. Beautifully penned, Sweetie. Good luck in the contest, my Friend.

This is definitely the place to be with your loved one! Lovely poetry and the rhyming stanzas lend a wonderful lyrical, singing quality to the poem. This poem also works well on both the physical and the spiritual levels, or like you've said "the inner eyes". Lovely work.
