Sickening, that is what this family is.
Absolutely vile and disgusting.
Nothing more.
You root around in your own filth
And laugh with breath like mildew.
You front like you've nothing to hide,
But you do!
You have much more than can possibly be true!
-Incest.
Truth.
-Denial.
Lie.
-Betrayal.
Truth.
-Just fine.
Lie.
-Rape.
Truth.
-Protection.
Truth,
But you protect the guilty,
Not the innocent.
You have reserved for that unlucky family member
The best gift of them all!
Rejection.
Destruction.
And, oh!
Let us not forget,
Acting!
Yes, the greatest of all the gifts,
The one where everyone waltzes around
With an invisible script.
"Oh, why hello there family member who causes so much disruption,
Why, don't you worry about that any longer!
We forgive you!
And we love you so, so very much!
Even your cousin--
The very one you made such wild accusations towards!--
Why, I do believe, he loves you the very most!
Oh, and he was the first to forgive, none the less!
Aren't we the perfect example of what a good family
Is?
Haha!"
Its a slap in the face,
Met by a subservient turn of the back
And a steady march away.
"Ah, we needn't worry about our disruptive family member,
Its just how they are,"
Of course, the family agrees,
Then go on along their ways,
Never taking a second glance
Towards the figure now locked away again,
Once more submerged in darkness,
Sitting, silently vengeful,
All they while
Withstanding more abuse.

The cycle of abuse is not easily broken. Fortunately I have a few friends that were able to break it. This is a most profound write. Thanks for sharing!
