Heavy with trinkets symbolising salvation,
they march on through the smoke and the ashes
left by those who failed before them.
Heeding no warning
from the ominous grey,
they fight for love of an unknown.
For love of their hope and faith.
Resting their lives, and the lives of others
on wings designed by man. So arrogant
as to create meaning and purpose
where there need be none.
They walk over the bodies of their fathers
not learning the lessons of their death,
still believing THEIR fight to be just.
Through the smoke they see enemies,
whose crime is the same as their passion.
They march also for their deities...
spurred into a righteous madness by blind faith.
They heed no warning as their winds
swirl around them the ashes of their fathers.
They bear arms at those who could be brothers.
Bear arms at those who could be they.
The written pages teach nothing
as still we trample the bodies of our dead.
Their wilted faces gape up
from their shallow graves, imploring
young men to halt and seek reason not victory.
Turning neighbours to enemies,
turning mothers against sons.
Making chaos where there was peace.
Creating an arrogance in man,
that he knows better than his equal.
In the name of the father, and the son...

It almost reminds me the so-called witches that were burned at the stake in Massachusetts. They were different in society, so they were judged to be someone that didn't deserve to live. Religion claims to provide brotherhood and peace among everyone, but practice the wrong one and you may lose your rights. I am not a religious fanatic, but do believe. I also believe that no religion should force itself on anyone, it should be a choice and without bloodshed. I want to thank you for your entry into the following contest: "Already On My Favorites."

PS: Your entry has been blessed by the three wise clappers, but don't spend the whole nine points in one place(lol)!

Why thank you!
I have long been opposed to religion and all the "holier than thou" crap that comes with it.

this is brilliant....organized religion causes way more fights and wars than it is worth in my opinion.
