OUT TO SEA


Nobody knows me
Not my friends or my family
I’m all alone here
On the edge of my time

I look towards the evening
Turning my back on the sunlight
As empty green pastures
Fall from the sky

They’ve got nothing to hide

I dream of the ocean
And the crashing of the waves
It’s streaking blue waters
Call out my name

Like a voice from the past

And I remember the summer
It was sweet morning’s beauty
When I first saw your face
But the seconds march quickens
As the pictures fade to black and white
And you stand before me
So far away

The statics unrelenting
And the siren’s song fills my ears
Casting shadows over memory
Pulling me along
There is no reason
There is no plan
When love’s just a phone call
That I never make

I pray for the sea to rise
And cover me completely
I’ll swim through your rainbows
To get out of this place

I wish I could see you
And let your thoughts flow through my veins
But my time is just a river
Flowing out to the sea
And my body is weeping
As you shine bright as the stars
I’m swallowed by the daylight
