Butterflies flew between
our dialogues as my stomach
twisted uncomfortably.
Your warm hands played along
the contours of my face, and
I held my breath as if it could
make this moment last longer.
You smiled flawlessly, and
I gave shaky one in return. Your
fingers rubbed across my cheek, trying
to ease the cracks on my skin that
were left my 5 broken years alone.
My breath caught in my throat, and
oxygen burned there as I try to
feel something other than the numbness
I was confined to for so long before.
You were here; your fading silhouette
was solidly outlined with bold strokes.
Your whispers that I craved for were
mended from its wasted fragmented pieces
in my faulty memories.
I smiled to myself as I realised
that I was holding onto an angel,
and not a single bullet could shatter
the bulb of security that lighted
our shallow faces of doubt.
& you breathed gently,
"You're finally here."
