Murky, muddy history
overflowing with organic dust
From Scotland (freshly imported).

Dunedin is a turtle.
Slowly extending
Its wrinkled legs
crawling north toward warmer nesting grounds.

Dunedin
Of stone and mud.
Fills up
With national runoff,
Forever pooling
To water the thirsty sheep.

Dunedin
Wishes she was somebody else.
Her heart cools alone
in the southern vista.
