Nightfall was eager for us as it uncoiled on the skyline,
behind faint lights, it appeared like spilt red wine;
our pupils constricted against the moon’s vivid gaze
as we frisked unsteadily through the shadow’s maze.
Relentless vines embraced the liquor-ridden floor,
rekindling the memories of what we used to live for;
our past melted beneath the warmth of the moonlight
as we breathed in the promising shade of the night.
Guts quivered behind nicotine-stained fingers
as our youthful bones bathed in laughter;
under the scrutiny of the stars, love unfurled,
as if it was the most common element in the world.
I drifted to sleep and saw their faces in my mind
where our moments of bliss and misery entwined;
never again shall my tears journey in loneliness,
for I know, they are here, beside me, in the darkness.
Author notes
In life, friends come and go but I know, with all my heart, that these people will stay with me forever. I'll be leaving the country for college in a few months and they don't know yet. 
I'll be telling them soon.
I will never forget them. And it's good to know that there will be family waiting for me when I come back. <3
