Summer Flight (Cinquain)

Summer,
an endless dream
scattered and taken flight
by butterflies captured within
seasons.

Author notes

I wanted to write something short and simple for a change, as I hardly ever go with that. I write long poems, I admit that... So, I decided to try Cinquain for the first time in my life, and I hope you like this. Nothing special, just a few words to descripe what summer means to me. And from the three options, as you might guess, I used "Summer".

Cinquain is usually unrhymed and short. It has five lines that are ordered by syllables to 2, 4, 6, 8, 2. You can find more information (and better description) of the Cinquain in shadowpoetry.com.

  • This is a very beautiful poem...so serene and peaceful...you have so much talent. It's been a while since I've seen a cinquain, nicely written...I like ricatemeters, myself. Blessed Be, ~Raven

I rarely like shorter poems, especially writing them, so I was surprised how much I liked this form. I think I'll stick with longer forms but these are fun to write every now and then. Ricatemeters are nice, I've read a few of them and should try it out one day. When I get all the other forms out of the way first lol

Thank you so much for your words and the comment; they mean the world to me! ^_^
